Golf RETURN OF CHARLES

Exhibition Match Likely The management committee of the Canterbury Golf Association decided last night that it will make every endeavour to hold an exhibition match while the lefthanded professional. R J. Charles, is in New Zealand. Charles will arrive home from Switzerland next month. He is expected to spend about two months in New Zealand before going to America for the National Left-Handed Tournament, towards the end of November The committee felt that the public of Canterbury should be given the opportunity of seeing Charles in action, while he is in Christchurch. The South Island Golf championships will be notable next year for the additional entry from the Buller-West-land Association This association has not been able to enter a team in recent years. The championships will be held In Christchurch early in March. The venue has yet to be decided on.

A grant of £l5 was made to the Canterbury Women's Golf Association for the efforts it has put Into Golf Foundation work.
