Boxing Waqa Knocks Out Mahoni

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 13. With a left hook in the third round, the Fijian, L. Waqa. knocked out the New Zealand heavy-weight boxing champion. G. Mahonl, at Wellington tonight. It was only the second time In his career that Mahonl has been knocked out. The first round was even and the second was Mahoni’s. but Waqa drove Mahonl into the ropes with a two-handed attack to the head in the third. Mahonl retaliated, but then met the punch that knocked him out. Waqa hopes his next bout will be with R. Stininato. Mahonl wants a return with Waqa. Weights: Waqa 12st lOJlb. Mahonl 12st 131 b. Walsh (Australia) on points in an eight-round professional middle-weight boxing bout In Auckland tonight. The judges disagreed but the referee. Mr F.
