HONG KONG ORPHANS
‘Sponsors Being Penalised’ (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 13. The voluntary agencies bringing in the Hong Kong orphans for adoption are being “penalised for their charity” by being made to pay transport costs, states an editorial in the latest issue of the Roman Catholic weekly newspaper ‘"Zealandia.” It says that it will cost the St Vincent de Paul Society from £750 to £BOO for the 10 orphans who will be flown here in about two months*
The charge to the National Council of Churches for their 40 children will be more than £3OOO.
