DIPPING OF SHEEP

Dieldrin Ban “Essential” (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Aug. 12. "It is absolutely essential that the ban on dieldrin dipping and dusting of sheep is maintained." said the chairman of the Meat Board (Mr J. D Ormond) tonight. "We must ensure that chemical residues in our meat do not occur." he said. “We have had difficulties in the past in export markets and after full consideration and discussion with the countries concerned, the elimination of dieldrin was determined. “If New Zealand is to retain its meat export trade then the indiscriminate use of certain materials is not possible It is necessary that others means be employed *‘.l hope farmers will anpreciate that this ban is in their own and the national interest. I know that the Department of Agriculture is very much aware of farmers' problems and that these are the subject of consideration and action by the department at this moment.”
