The Deputy-Leader of the Opposition (Mr Hackett) is making steady progress in Auckland Hospital after a brain operation.—(P.A.) The Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt. Rev. A. K. Warren) will leave for Wellington this morning for a meeting of the bishops and the annual meeting of the Church of the Province of New Zealand. He will return on Friday. Sir Arcot Mudaliar, the vice-chancellor of the University of Madras, is expected to remain a patient in Auckland Hospital for another week. He will then be flown home to India. Sir Arcot Mudaliar was taken to hospital soon after his arrival in Auckland last Tuesday to attend executive meetings of the Association of Universities of the British Commonwealth. His condition was reported yesterday to be much improved.—(P.A.)
