N.Z. ANTARCTIC PARTY
Ruapehu Course Completed (N’Z. Press . Association) THE CHATEAU, August 12. The New Zealand Antarctic party for 1962-63 finished a successful week's training course at Mount Ruapehu yesterday. Until they go south in October most of the men will receive further training at Department of Scientific and Industrial Research establishments in various parts of New’ Zealand. The Ruapehu course concluded with lectures on firstaid. search and rescue in the Antarctic, and a demonstration of snow caving. Six of the men, including the leader, LieutenantColonel R. A. Tinker, will attend a fire-fighting course at the Fire Services training school at Island Bay, Wellington. this week.
