DOMINICAN DIES
Father McEvoy Of Australia (N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) BRISBANE, August 10. The founder of the Holy Name Society in Australia the Very Rev. William V. McEvoy, of the Dominican Order, died in Brisbane today—the fortieth anniversary of the start of his work. He was 74. The society is Australia’s major organisation of Roman Catholic men, and Father McEvoy was, its national director until he came to Brisbane in semiretirement 10 years ago. Father McEvoy entered the Dominican Order in Ireland in 1909 and was ordained in 1915. He founded the first branch of the society at St. Laurence’s Priory, Adelaide 40 years ago today.
