STAFF HONOURS MR NEWTON
Presentations At Papanui H.S.
The r, apanui High School staff, with their wives and husbands, honoured the retiring principal, Mr L. B. Newton. and Mrs Newton at a conversazione.
The senior master (Mr W. F Haworth) said Mr Newton’s great service to education and to the Papanui High School coincided with very rapid expansion in pupil numbers, buildings, and facilities. Two wings of classrooms and the assembly hall had been built in his time But the ou'standing quality of his service was smooth organisation which showed dedication to all aspects of his work. Mr Newton said the fine support he had had in all his years at the school created the happy atmosphere in the staff.
A semi-automatic slide prolector was presented to Mr Newton and a traveller’s cosmetic case to Mrs Newton.
