MINORS IN HOTELS

“Present Law Unfair” (N.Z Press Association) INVERCARGILL, August 9. The present law was unfair, it should be changed so that all the onus was on the minor, Mr F. W. G. Miller told today's meeting of the Invercargill Licensing Trust He was commenting on a report which showed that 76 minors were refused liquor in the trust's 13 hotels and bottle stores last Saturday. The survey, conducted by the trust, showed that 25 minors were refused liquor between 10 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. and 51 between 3.30 p.m. and 6 p.m. “This shows the continual strain our staff is working under." said Mr Miller. The trust decided to approach the Minister of Justice (Mr Hanan) on the matter on his next visit to Invercargill.
