Decorations On Route
When the King and Queen of Thailand went on their ceremonial drive in Christchurch. it was hoped that shopkeepers and business owners along the route would decorate their premises, said the Town Clerk (Mr C S Bowie > yesterday Government departments and offices of the City Council are arranging for floral decorations and preparation has begun on decorating and lighting the Government buildings in the Square and Worcester street
If flags were flying it helped to dress the city. Mr Bowie said, but he advised those who have flagpoles on their buildings to check their flags, poles, and halyards for wear first
The City Council has one flag of Thailand for the occasion but it is doubtful whether there will be any others in the city At the civic reception, the King of Thailand is expected to give the city an autogr’ohed photograph of himself A return gift will be made to the Royal couole. probably a typical New Zealand scene.
