BOLSHOI BALLET
Delighted By Reception (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 9. The 26 dancers of the Bolshoi Ballet arrived at Auckland this morning delighted with their reception in other centres and overwhelmed by their greeting by the Gover-nor-General (Viscout Cobham) at Wellington last night. “He was wonderful; he came right up on to the stage after the performance to talk to us,” said the director of the troupe (Nikolai Aleshanko).
Speaking through Georgi Bovt, one of the male dancers, Mr Aleshanko went on to say that the opening audiences of the tour in Dunedin and Christchurch, had been a little reserved —less so in Christchurch—but the Wellington appreciation was “just like home.”
