Obituary Mr M. C. Henderson
(N.Z Pres* Association) DUNEDIN, August 9. One of New Zealand’s foremost pioneers in electricity, Mr Mathew C. Henderson, died in Dunedin last night. He was 90. Mr Henderson was Dunedin’s third electrical engineer and succeeded Sir William Goodman and Mr E. E. Stark, assuming the position in 1914 when Mr Stark resigned. He guided the Waipori power scheme through some of its most difficult early stages.
Mr Henderson, who retired in 1938, was president for a term of the Electrical Supply Authorities Engineers’ Institute.
