Tobacco Dearer
As from today two-ounce packets of pipe and cigarette tobacco will be Id dearer Most of the popular brands of cigarette tobacco will now be 4s 7d and the more expensive ones. 4s 9d. Pipe tobacco will range from 4s 5Jd to 4s 9d. The prices of ready-made cigarettes are not affected. The Tobacco Trade Council announced yesterday that the penny increase in the retail prices had been approved by the Price Tribunal and wholesale prices had been adjusted accordingly.
