Restricted Market Blamed For Costs
(NZ Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 8. Where New Zealand prices were higher than those for comparable overseas goods the cause, in the main, was the restricted market and some factors beyond the control of industry, said the president of the Manufacturers’ Federation (Mr T. E. Bower). Speaking at a conference of newspaper advertising managers, he said the recent 2j per cent increase in wage rates was an example of a cost factor which "disconcertingly appears from time (o time” and overloads the cost structure.
