CHANGES IN CONTROL
Proposals To Association (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 8. The New Zealand Football Association council will recommend to the half-yearly general meeting next month that vital changes in soccer administration are “urgently necessary.” The council chairman (Mr J. Kershaw) announced this tonight following a discussion held in committee on Tuesday evening. "One way this may be done might be through direct representation on the council,” Mr Kershaw said. At present the council consists of Wellington residents elected at its annual general meeting.
Mr Kershaw added that his council was convinced that changes in the association budgetary system were also necessary. “We shall strongly recommend to next month's meetj ing that we must raise 1 money by imposing a levy ■on all players through the various associations.” The meeting decided against a tour of New Zealand by an under-23 national team. Under-16 Teams The Canterbury under 16 soccer teams to play in the South Island tourney are:— A Team.—B. Stafford. N. McAlpine, B. Hool (Chch. 8.H.5.). A. Gowans. M. Broers, O. B Team.—G. McCann, K. Smythe (Linwood H.S.), C. Jones, B. Freeman (Riccarton H. M. Annand, W. Robinson, P. Maurice (Shirley 8.H.5.). K. Pahl, B. Wilkinson (Chch. 8.H.5.), J. Petersen. D. Connell (Tech. Coll.). E. Dailey (Papanui H.S.). G. Wilson (Chch. West H.S.), R. Buchanan (Aranui H.S.). The following are requested to attend B team practices as reserves: P. Ching (Chch. West H.S.), T. Jones (Tech. Coll.). B. Haines (Shirley 8.H.5.), P. Ives (St. Bede’s Coll.). A full practice will be held at North Hagley 3 today at 4 p.m., wet or fine. Advt. Under-12 Team The following have been selected to represent Canterbury in the under-12 South Island schoolboys’ tournament to be held in Dunedin from August 27 to 31:— N. Mattison (Heaton Street).
