SCHOOL ART CONTEST
Cup Competition For Painting “Universality" is the subject for the New Zealand school painting cup competition this year Cup entries from each school will consist of five unmounted pictures, and individual entries will be judged in eight classes, with a prize of £1 in each. The closing date for the competition is October 31 Entries will be judged on thought, originality, movement colour and expressiveness This may be the last year of the competition, as the organiser (Miss C Wilding) is retiring and definite arrangements have not yet been made for its continuation The cup will become the property of the winning school if the contest lapses Among example* of univer-, salitv suggested as themes for the eomnetition are the Red Cross, whose activities are world wide: postal services, on land, sea and air; and flowers, music and painting
