Applause At The Ballet
Sir,—While the foot-stamp-ing ovation given to the Bolshoi Ballet may be heartwarming, would it not be more considerate to the dancers to reserve it for the finish of the pirouette, etc., as it must be very hard on ;heir concentration? The technique is superb if the trend is not disturbed by this stamping. Could you obtain advice on this type of ovation before our own New Zealand Ballet is subjected to it? —Yours, etc., HAND-CLAPPER. August 8, 1962.
