CHAMPIONSHIPS ON WEST COAST

Canterbury, Nelson Players Successful (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. Aug. 6. It was victory tor the visitors when the West Coast open table tennis championships were played at Greymouth at the week-end. Nelson and Canterbury players won all 12 titles between them, and only on two occasions did Coasters reach Ute finals. The men’s singles title was won by the Canterbury player. N. Radford, wno best a fellow Cantabrian, G. Makinson in straight seis. J. Sard. Canterbury, was taken to tour sets by V. Bolton from the same province, before taking the women’s singles titles. P. Grainger (Canterbury* played well to annex the boys’ singles title from K. Rich. Grainger was not hard pressed. Rich and Grainger also took tlie boys’ doubles title.

The only* upset of the day occurred in the girls’ singles. M. Ward Holmes, of Nelson, gave a fine display to dispose of Canterbury's highly rated J. Rich.
