Beckenham I Easy Winner Beckenham I, last year's winner, finished three points ahead of any other team when the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association's winter inter-club competition concluded at Wilding Park on Saturday. Beckenham I remained unbeaten, winning its matches against every other team In the first round and beating three of them again in the second round. With Beckenham's position assured—it beat University I without the loss of a match—there was a more Interesting battle lor second position. Before Saturday three teams. University 1. Barrington 1 and North Linwood had eight points. Beckenham ruined University's chance and Barrington I beat North Linwood by 4 matches to 2 In the other matches Avonside beat Beckenham II by 5 matches to 1. and University II beat Barrington II bv 4 matches to 2 Spievdon defaulted to Redcllffs. Final points were:—Beckenham I 12. Barrington 1 9. University I 8. North Linwood B. Redcliffs 8. Avonside 6. University II S. Barrington II 2. Beckenham II I. Spreydon 1. Results:— North Linwood v. Barrington Men's Singles —J. Beatty beat G Ford. 6-4. 6-4; B. Prlsk lost to R. McCutcheon. 3-8, 4-6. Women's Singles.—J. Bell lost to Mrs J. Mac Neil). 7-9. 1-6; North Linwood defaulted the second match. Mixed Doubles—Beatty and Miss Bell beat Ford and Miss S. MacNeiil, 6-2, 6-3; North Linwood defaulted the other doubles match. Neale. 6-1. 6-0 Mixed Doubles —Jamieson and Mrs Rixon beat Skerton and Miss Coombs. 6-2. 6-4; Reader and Mrs Hall beat Hepburn and Miss Neale. 6-1, 6-0. Avonside won by 5 matches to 1. Beckenham 1 v.
