FARM TO BE GAOL SITE?
Questions In Parliament (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 3 It is understood that a 275acre town supply dairy farm at Paremoremo is being bought by the Government as the site of a new maximum security gaol. The property, which belongs to Mr and Mrs G. K Prebble, is in an isolated valley directly north of Whenuapai township. In the House of Representatives today, the Minister of Justice 'Mr Hanan) said that plans were being prepared for the new gaol in Auckland When it was built, the prison at Mount Eden would become a short sentence and remand institution for Auckland city In reply to Mr R. D. Muldoon (Government. Tamaki), Mr Hanan said he was not aware of rumours that the new gaol would be at North Shore The Minister told Mr W. W Freer (Opposition, Mount Alberti that he could not say at this stage where it would be.
