Now in its second year of undergraduate and postgraduate instruction, it seeks to appoint a second Professor in the Department of Mathematics in order to ensure that a modern approach to studies tn Pure Mathematics can be carried through the full range of courses. Studies in current problems of economic growth and of Australia’s economic relations with the region are also being undertaken. A particular field of study of several Departments of the School Is the development of New Guinea. These posts will be of particular interest to research workers wishing to undertake field work in South or East Asia or the Pacific Region. Generous provision. is made for such field work, which is encouraged where it forms an integral part of a Fellow’s approved research programme. The salary ranges for Senior Research Fellows and Research Fellows are £A2620-3160 and EA1656-2450 per annum respectively. Appointment is made within one of these ranges, according to qualifications, for a period of three years, with possible extension to the maximum of five years. Superannuation is on the F.S.S.U. pattern. Reasonable travel expenses are paid and assistance with accommodation is provided.
