AUCKLAND WOOL Id UP ON NAPIER

(.Vtw Zealand Press Association)

AUCKLAND. Aug. 2. The average price for , all wools at the first Auckland sale of the 1962-63 season today was at least Id a pound above the Napier rates on Monday. For the producers, this result is regarded as most satisfactory, although prices generally are slightly below those received at the August sale in Auckland last year. Taken over all, the offering today was not particularly attractive. Many of the lines, particularly the crutch:ngs. showed the effect of the wet pre-shearing period. About 65 per cent, of the offering was second-shear and early shorn hogget wool Crutchings accounted for a further 20 per cent, and the balance was oddments. The Continent bought

strongly and was supported by American buyers who appeared to concentrate mainly on the crutchings. Wcol passed at the May and June sales was sold today at prices at least Id above the passing value. In some cases, short length, second-shear wool was up by as much as 2d on the recent Nanier rates However, on the day these were exceptional lines and were few in number. Top price of 52d was paid for three bales of secondshear extra-fine crossbred wool. Seven bales of a fine crossbred hogget wool brought 49? d. Five bales of a fine crossbred hogget made 49Jd. and three bales of second-shear ewe wool made 42Jd. Six bales of early shorn fleece, reclassed by the broker, sold for 5Ud.
