The discussion of estimates occupied most of Parliament’s’ time yesterday. The following classes of estimates (with the amounts actually spent in the previous year in brackets) were passed: Valuation Department £152.000 (£485.523): Marine Department. £920.000 (£931,140); Forest Service £3.400,000 (£3.363.901); forest development (Public Works), £2,800.000 (£2,715,075); Mines Department, £ 104,000 (XI 12,951). The annual reports of the National Roads Board and the Child Welfare Division were tabled. The House rose at 4.40 pm. until 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
