The Shah of Persia flew into Rawalpindi today to try to ease the strained relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The netYs of his sudden decision yesterday to fly to Rawalpindi from Kabul. Afghanistan, caused speculation that he might take an offer from Afghanistan to Pakistan’s President Mohammed Ayub Khan concerning the Afghan-Pakistan diplomatic dispute. Pakistan closed Afghan trading posts last September, alleging that they were also used as spy centres. Usually well - informed sources said the Shah, who has been on a five-day visit to Afghanistan, was likely to spend one day in Rawalpindi and return to Teheran tomorrow by way of Kabul. are believed to have concentrated on finding a way to reopen Afghanistan's trade route through Pakistan, which has been blocked for several months.
