Markets Quiet, Uneasy At Close Of Week
Turn-over fell away again on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. New Zealand shares tended to weaken, and the undertone was uneasy.
New Zealand Insurance were again firmer. Andrews and Beaven made another good gain in Wellington business. G. H. Scales, last traded on July 4. rose a further 3s. Meat Packers, after Thursday’s “don’t sell” warning, sold unchanged at 10s 3d in Wellington, 10s in Invercargill. McSkimming, in first business for two weeks, fell Is 3d. Milburn Cement and N.Z. Industrial Gases also fell sharply.
Australian shares were inactive, and rises balanced falls. Dunlop Australia, in first business since February 9, rose 2s 6d.
