MAIDEN VOYAGE.—The new Shaw Savill liner Northern Star (24,733 tons) leaving Southampton on her maiden voyage, an 11-week journey to Wellington and back to England. The ship was launched by the Queen Mother last year. The 1412 passengers have paid fares ranging from £28l to £484 for the trip. The Northern Star cost £6,250,000, is 650 ft long, and does 22 knots.
