N.Z. Removes Tariffs (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 14. The ratification by New Zealand of the U.N.E.S.C.O. agreement on the importation of educational, scientific and cultural materials was announced by the Minister of Education (Mr Tennent). New Zealand’s ratification became effective on July 1. “This agreement is devoted to the removal of tariff and trade restrictions on a large variety of educational, scientific and cultural materials.” Mr Tennent said .today. “U.N.E.S.C.O.’s object in initiating the agreement was to make these materials more readily accessible to people throughout the world and some 33 countries have so far ratified the agreement.”
