CONSUMER SERVICE

Membership Of 37,000 Mr G. E. Wood, chairman of the Consumer Service Council in Wellington, attended a recent meeting of the Christchurch district committee of the council, and discussed with members the council’s future policy. He reported that the membership of the consumer service was now 37,000, and that the figure was expected to reach 40 000 bv the end of the year. The district council secretary reported that at present the number of requests asking for a test of electric blankets averaged five a day. Plans were made for a stall to be held at the Christchurch Industries Fair, from August 16 to September 1. A letter of thanks was received from a member who, after trying unsuccessfully for replacements of unsatisfactory colour photographic prints, placed the matter in the hands of the district council. Within two days the firm concerned had replaced the prints.
