Trap-Shooting Ellesmere Wins Shield From Record Entry
' One hundred and twenty shooters took part in the annual teams’ matah for the Canterbury Gun Club’s shield at YaMhurst on Saturday. The event was conducted by the Waihora Gun Club, and 24 teams, representing all clubs in the province, took part. This was the .largest entry since the shield WRp presented by Mr E. F. Bearman and the late Mr D. Dorreen in 1955. Thirty-eight shooters registered possibles. The Ellesmere No. 1 team beat Geraldine in a shoot off to take the major honours. Scores of the successful Ellesmere team were: A. A. Greenwood 15, E. Donald 15. C. Skinner 14, W. Anderson 15, and E. G. Ames 14—total, 73. Geraldine scores: K. Ross 15, J. Hughes 15. W. Seaman Fined.— John Patrick Murphy, aged 21, single, a seaman, was fined £lO for using obscene language when he appeared before Captain C. C. Goes and Mr L J. Shuker, J.P.’s, in the Magistrate’s Court at Lyttelton, yesterday. He pleaded guilty.
