APPLICATION FOR GRANT
Assembly Hall Lighting The Education Department would be asked for a grant for emergency lighting and exit notices in the Linwood . High School assembly hall, it was decided at a meeting of the board of governors. Many new school halts were fitted with emergency ; lighting when they were built, so that they could be ' hired for public functions, said the headmaster (Mr P A. Hickling). It was the board's policy not to hire the hall but to let people use it on condition they made a donation > to the school. The Ministry of Works had told him that the equipment would cost between £3OO and > £350. If a grant was made for it they would be able to hire the hall, he said.
