Rise For Messages Sent Overesas There has been an increase in the rates for telecommunications to . South Africa, Burma, Israel, and Jordan From today ordinary telegrams will cost 2s 2d a word and letter telegrams Is Id a word, with a minimum charge of £1 3s lOd. Telephone calls to South Africa will cost £1 5s a minute, with a minimum charge of £3 15s. The G L.T special service rate for messages of a social or domestic nature, which formerly applied to telegrams, is no longer available Ordinary press telegrams will cost 4 1 /ad a word and urgent press telegrams 2s 2d a word The photo-telegram rate, ordinary and press, to South Africa will rise to £l2 up to 150 square centimetres, and £6 for each additional 100 square centimetres.
