NEW BOILER FOR MINE

Engineers Freed For Other Duties (N.Z. Press' Association) DUNEDIN, July 6. The “ridiculous” position of three qualified engineers maintaining a 24-hour watch on the massive Kaitangata mine boilers to provide showers for the miners, would end with the installation of an automatic boiler soon, a State Coal Department spokesman said today. The boilers had worked throughout the days maintaining a ’ steady temperature in the changing room and providing water tor the 140 miners. It had been necessary to employ three fully-qualified engineers exclusively in the boiler-house for maintenance work.
