NEW POTATO PROCESS

Plan For Plant At Pukeuri (JVX. Press Association) OAMARU, July 8. The Waitaki Farmers' Freezing Company, Ltd., has been granted the licence by the Canadian Government corp-oration. Canadian Patents and Development. Ltd., to process “instant'’ mashed potatoes in New Zealand. The product, the invention of Dr. E. A. M. Asselbergs. has proved very popular in Canada. The New Zealand company plans to establish the potato processing plant at Pukeuri with a capacity to supply the whole of the foreseeable demand for the product in New Zealand, and for satisfying any possible export demand.

It is expected that the plant will be in operation by the time of the 1963 potato harvest.
