ASYLUM IN BRITAIN
Application By Soblen (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, July 7 A Russian war-time spy. Dr Robert Soblen, recovering in London from a suicide attempt, has applied for political asylum in Britain Soblen, who is 61, was landed in Britain last Sunday after he stabbed himself in the stomach and cut his wrist aboard an airliner flying him from Israel to the United States to begin a life sentence
In London, a High Court Judge gave leave for a writ of habeaus corpus to be issued for Soblen. A Home Office official said the purpose of the writ was to question, the legality of Soblen's detention. The application will be heard on July 17 before three High Court Judges The British Government will be represented at the application Soblen cannot leave Britain until the application is heard.
