The Minister of Island Territories (Mr Gotz) will now leave Auckland on Monday for his islands tour, during which he is to address the Legislative Assembly of the Cook Islands.—(P.A.) Mr A. Moore, representing the Rangiora Businessmen's Association, was welcomed at last evening's meeting of the Canterbury Chamber of Com. merce council. Captain R. A. Hatnpson, formerly a pilot in the East African Railways and Harbours Administration, has been appointed harbourmaster and pilot ait Oamaru —(P.A.) Flight Lieutenant J. D. Anderson, of Auckland, has succeeded Flight Lieutenant J. R Potter, of Wellington, as the representative of the R.N.Z.A.F. on the Commonwealth procurement organisation in the United Kingdom. —<P. A.)
An appeal for free billets for about 750 students in Christchurch from August 11 to August 17 is being made by the Students' Association The students will be visiting Christchurch for the New Zealand universities winter tournament and arts festival Letters and posters asking for assistance have been distributed to many business houses and firms in the city.
