A WAR-DAMAGED GALLERY AT THE BRITISH MUSEUM.—The rebuilt Duveen gallery, which houses the famous Elgin marbles from the Temple of Athena, Athens. Built shortly before the 1939-45 war, the gallery was badly damaged by enemy action and has only recently been restored. It was designed specially for the Elgin marbles and has been described by the Greek Ambassador to London as “magnificent.”
