Workers In Places Of Amusement

Increases of varying amounts in the minimum wages of employees of places of amusement (other than theatres) and sports bodies are provided by an award which came into effect on June 29. The wages of adult male workers in indoor places of amusement a-e increased by 7s 9d a week and those of youths and females by 7s 2d a week. “The minimum rate of wages for attendants at boxing and wrestling contests shall be £1 2s 6d a performance." says a clause in the award. That is an increase of lOd. Floor managers at skating rinks receive an increase of 7s a week. An adult male skate-room attendant "who is competent and whose duty it is to adjust or repair skates." receives an increase of 20s a week. Tlie increases for junior females vary up to 19s a week according to service. The increase for senior females is 9s a week. The provisions of the award relating to wages are retrospective to June 18.
