APPEAL BY C.O.R.5.O.
£35.000 Raised In Canterbury The amount contributed to the C.0.R.5.0. appeal in the Canterbury area is new £35,000. and the national figure is expected to be halfway to the target of £500,000 by the end of this week. Contributions amounting to £24.000 had been made in Christchurch, and £ll.OOO had been received from North and Mid-Canterburv Marlborough, and Westland said Mr G. H. Coley. C.0.R.5.0. organiser in Christchurch, yesterday. “There are more than 100 country areas still to make their returns.” he said. The sum received to date exceeded previous appeals. The amount received in 12 months last year was £27,008 The half-way mark was now in sight, said the campaign committee's secretary • the Rev. H. C. Dixon) on Monday. The committee had been notified of contributions amounting to £236.000. and counting was still going on.
Remuera Arrives. The Remuera arrived at Wellington yesterday morning from London on her maiden trip for the New Zealand Shipping Company. A former Cunarder. the Parthia. she replaces the Rangitiki and Rangitata. both of which have been sent to the shipbreakers.— (P.AJ
