Local Body Meetings Bill
Sir,—No-one has yet given a reason for local body deliberations being made in secrecy. Is it because they do not wish to show the general public how little they know’ about the subject under discussion? Or are they trying to hide something? The bill at present before Parliament does not go far enough. It applies to council (or board) meetings but not to committee meetings. lit is the committee discussions that should be made public and then we should know why any decision w’as made and which of our worthy representatives made it. When all is said and done, they are our representatives and it is our money they are spending.— Yours, etc., A. W. PERKINS. July 2, 1962,
