CAUTION FOR HOOKER

Persistent Offences Because the Christchurch senior Rugby hooker, E. Hllson, repeatedly broke Law 15 in the scrums in the game against Merivale last Saturday he was warned by the referee (Mr R. W. Phizacklea). Last evening the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union received a report from Mr Phizacklea. It said that Hilson was warned that he was repeatedly and persistently infringing the law by kneeling on his left knee on practically every scrummage on which he had the tight head. "He was penalised for this on innumerable occasions and persisted right to the end of the game,” said the report. The chairman (Mr J. O. Hattersley) said that it was the first time the committee had had to deal with a matter of that nature. Under the laws the matter must be reported and therefore some action must be taken. After a short discussion the meeting decided to caution the player and to advise his club of the infringement which led to the warning.
