INCREASED LEVY

Estimates For Year The Christchurch Regional Planning Authority yesterday fixed local bodies’ contributions at l '57.5d in the £ of adjusted capital rateable values to provide £17,567. Last year the levy was l/55d. Exependiture last year was £17,282, £1440 below the amount estimated, and with receipts the authority began this year with a credit working balance of £1446. Expenditure for this year was estimated to be £19.608. but a report on the finances said the estimates did not take into account the changed circumstances which would arise if the authority itself should be charged with the detailed design work in the preparation of the master transportation plan. If that came about the whole question of finances and estimates would need to be reviewed. On the new contributions, the levies will be: —Christchurch city. £11,602; Kaiapoi borough, £179; Riccarton borough, £615; Eyre county, £96; Halswell county, £216; Heathcote county, £550; Paparua county, £1188; Waimairi county, £3121. In the case of Eyre, Halswell and Paparua, only parts of the counties are in the region.
