Ice Hockey Wolves Beat Hawks

Wolves beat Hawks by the odd goal in three in last night's Cnrlstchurch Cup ice hockey match.

Hawks plaved a defensive game in the first spell and kept Wolves In check and in the second spell Wolves' passing and position play broke down several times.

Wolves' first gosl camo from a goal-mouth scrimmage after half the spell had gone, but Hawks netted almost immediately after the ensuing face off. Play swung from end to end of the rink for the rest of the game with both sides making some excellent plays. Wolves' winning goal was a lucky one. The puck bounced high, hit three rafters, dropped in the goalmouth behind the goalkeeper and bounced Into the net.

Hawks kept up the attack and the Wolves had several narrow escapes but there was no further score.

Scorers were:—Hawks: N Hole. Wolves: G. Atkinson (i)

The referees were Messrs D. Fisher and J. Ve Quesne
