U.K. LEAGUE TEAM TOUR
Delayed TV Only
(NS. Press Attoctationj, AUCKLAND, July 2. Permission tor delayed telecasts of all the matches to be played by Great Britain in New Zealand was granted to the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation by the New Zealand Rugby League council tonight. The council, after receiving advice from the Australian Rugby League, decided not to allow direct telecasting of the matches. In Australia only those matches which had been presold were telecast direct. Mr J. E. Knowling. the council secretary, said that as none of the matches in New Zealand would be pre-sold, direct telecasts could not be afforded.
No charge will be made to the corporation, but *he council will request that two copies of each film be provided. one for the New Zealand Rugby League and the other for the tourists.
The tourists will now play two Maori sides during their nine-match tour. The New Zealand Maori-Great Britain match will be transferred from Rotorua to Wellington end a North Island Maori team will now oppose the tourists at Rotorua. These alterations were made after the Wellington lyeague had requested that the Wellington-Great Britain mtach be abandoned as it felt, after seeing its representative team in action, it “would be slaughtered."
