Accord In Talks At Bonn

(N .Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright) BONN, June 21. The West German Foreign Minister (Dr. Gerhard Schroeder) today said he and the American Secretary of State (Mr Dean Rusk) had agreed that it was desirable to achieve a multilateral N.A.T.O. atom force in Europe.

Asked in a radio interview which N.A.T.O problems he had discussed with Mr Rusk during the latter’s visit to Bonn last Friday. Dr. Schroeder replied: "We have once again reviewed the principles of the nuclear strategy of the United States and we agree—that is nothing new—with the United States that it is dessirable to achieve a multilateral N.A.T.O. force in Europe. . . . “We did not deal in detail with the question of French nuclear development.” A West German Foreign office spokesman, asked whether Dr. Schroeder, in referring to a “multilateral

N.A.T.O. atom force in Europe.” had meant the reported idea of a European nuclear deterrent, said the Minister was repeating the West German wish that the United States N.A.T.O. allies should have a say on the use of nuclear weapons. “But that certainly does not exclude a European deterrent,” the spokesman added.
