UNWANTED TIMBER
Dunedin Yards Have Glut (N.Z Press Association) DUNEDIN, June 25 Dunedin's timber yards are oiled high with unwanted building timber as a result of the big drop in the demand for housing and the slackening in the building trade. The glut of lower grade timbers had created a serious problem for merchants, Mr R R Armstrong, president of the Otago Timber Merchants’ Association, said today. As far as he was aware, however, there was no question of anv timber yards nutting off staff Dressed timber and better lines were sellins more or less as usual he said.
He did not think an immediate improvement in the trade could be expected But another citv timber merchant said he did not think the oosition was too serious. He was optimistic, although he agreed that many other merchants were not.
