FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A cold south-westerly airstream prevails over New Zealand and a ridge of high pressure is advancing slowly across the Tasman Sea. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Moderate south-west winds, fresh in a few exposed coastal places; a few coastal showers likely about and north of Banks Peninsula, but elsewhere weather partly cloudy; temperatures cold. Kaikoura Coast and Marlborough Sounds.— Fresh southerlies, decreasing slowly; cloudy with occasional showers, becoming less frequent; temperatures cold. Central Marlborough. Nelson, Buller and Westland.—Moderate winds from a southerly quarter; a few isolated showers in the morning, but weather otherwise mainly fine; cool temperatures.
