“Carmen”

Sir,—l must protest about the unfair way the New Zealand Opera Company has advertised bookings. When mail reservations first opened it was stated that Miss Blackham was to sing the lead in "Carmen.” Now, after obtaining seats I find that Miss Tatana will be singing the night we have arranged to attend. I realise that Miss Tatana must have her chance but I do feel that this should have been made known earlier so that one may at least be able to see the artist of one’s choice. If the New Zealand Opera Company wishes to gain public support it should be exact in its advance publicity.— Yours, etc, M. JENKINS. May 13, 1962. [Mr J. Use of School.—An application from the Canterbury branch of the Forest and Bird Protection Society for use of part of the Kaikoura District High School as headquarters for a Dominion-wide camp from January 4 to January 11 next year had been approved subject to the usual conditions and the approval of the school committee, the Canterbury Education Board was told yesterday.
