New Carbide Industry (M Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 19 The Government was accused of using “political trickery” by Mi J Mathison (Opposition. Avon), in the House of Representatives last night He was commenting on a report that the Government had approved tn principle a calcium carbide industry near Westport Mr Mathison asked what the reported “approved in principle” decision meant. The Labour Government had considered in 1959 the possibility of providing for such an industry low-cost power, a private generator or a hydro-electric station for leasing. A firm had mgde submissions to the Government but a decision had only just been made. (Earlier report. Page 14)
