GIFT FOR LORD COBHAM

Consideration By City Council

No date has yet been set for the farewell visit of the Governor-General (Lord Cobham) and Lady Cobham to Christchurch, but the city council has set up a small sub-committee to consider the form of the farewell and a gift for Lord Cobham. “As yet we have no ideas on the form of the gift,” the Mayor (Mr G. Manning) said yesterday. “With the close links Lord Cobham has through family association with Christchurch and Lyttelton we want something that will be a particular reminder to him of those ties and the affection be has enjoyed during his stay as the Queen’s representative.”
