JERSEY CATTLE SALE
Slow bidding and frequent passings characterised the North Canterbury Jersey Club’s ninth annual sale at the Rangiora Show Grounds on Wednesday. There were 24 entries and the sale attracted a good attendance.
Several good prices were paid privately for cattle which were passed in at auction. Seven in-calf heifers were sold out of 10 offered at an average of just under SBgns. Values ranged from 37Jgns to 50 gns, with one sale at lOOgns. This was F. W. Hansen’s Lilac Grove Petula. which was passed in at auction at 75gns and bought subsequently at lOOgns bv S. Rowe (Palmerston North). Six cows averaged 42Jgns. out of 10 offered, and prices ranged from 35gns to SOgns. which was paid for Pine Leigh Home Gert, bred by R. W Frost, by D. J. Boal (Irwell). Three out of four yearling bulls were sold. F. W. Hansen's Lilac Grove Quantas, which was passed In at 40gns at auction, was bought later at the reserve figure of lOOgns by E- B. Dalzlell (Kaikoura). The others made SOgns and SOgns. The sale was conducted by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., in conjunction with Dalgety and NX Loan, Ltd.
